About This Site
RenterPlaybook exists because I couldn't find a single resource that told me, step by step, what actually happens when an Austin renter disputes a lease issue — the real forms, the real fees, the real timelines. So I started documenting my own disputes.
How every guide is written
- Primary sources. Every legal claim links to the Texas Property Code, Austin City Code, or the relevant Travis County court page — never to another blog.
- Worked examples, labeled honestly. Each guide walks the numbers through a realistic Austin scenario using real statutory formulas and current local fees. Scenarios are labeled as illustrative examples unless they describe an actual case.
- Real photos and documents. Screenshots and photos are my own, with personal details redacted. No stock imagery.
- Dated and updated. Each guide shows its publish and last-updated dates. Texas statutes change; I re-verify citations when they do.
What this site is not
I am not an attorney, and nothing here is legal advice. These guides describe my experience so you know what to expect — for advice on your specific situation, consult a licensed Texas attorney. When a dispute is bigger than DIY, I say so, and I maintain a directory of Austin tenant attorneys for exactly those cases.
How this site makes money
Two ways, both disclosed: display advertising, and referral fees if you hire an attorney through my directory. Neither changes what I write — no landlord, property manager, or law firm pays for coverage or edits.
