About This Site

RenterPlaybook exists because I couldn't find a single resource that told me, step by step, what actually happens when an Austin renter disputes a lease issue — the real forms, the real fees, the real timelines. So I started documenting my own disputes.

How every guide is written

What this site is not

I am not an attorney, and nothing here is legal advice. These guides describe my experience so you know what to expect — for advice on your specific situation, consult a licensed Texas attorney. When a dispute is bigger than DIY, I say so, and I maintain a directory of Austin tenant attorneys for exactly those cases.

How this site makes money

Two ways, both disclosed: display advertising, and referral fees if you hire an attorney through my directory. Neither changes what I write — no landlord, property manager, or law firm pays for coverage or edits.

Austin Landlord & Tenant-Rights Researcher

I research and document DIY rental-dispute procedures for Austin, Texas renters — the exact statutes, forms, fees, and Travis County court steps, each verified against its official source. I am not a lawyer, and every guide says so; my goal is that you know exactly what to expect before you spend money on an attorney.
